Cocodona 250 has been a bucket-list race of mine for a while. But when I actually considered putting my name in the lottery, I couldn’t help thinking, Am I completely crazy?
At that point, I’d attempted exactly one 100-mile race, and that ended at mile 52. And now I was seriously considering running 250 miles?
But that’s a big part of what Second Half Strong is about for me. Setting goals that seem a little ridiculous, being willing to find out what I’m capable of, and then putting in the work to give myself a legitimate shot at accomplishing them.
I don’t know exactly what the road to Cocodona will look like, but I’m excited to find out. I’ll be documenting the training, preparation, mistakes, lessons, and everything else that comes with chasing 250 miles.
THE ROAD TO COCODONA
THE MOMENT IT BECAME REAL
June 1, 2026. The day I found out I’d been selected for the Cocodona 250.
At that point, I had never completed a hundred miler and had only attempted one. And somehow, I was now officially signed up to attempt 250 miles in one of the biggest races in ultra running.
Here is a video that I sent my family sharing the news.
